Pastor as Primary Formator
The pastor becomes the deacon’s lead mentor and daily guide, modeling priestly life through presence, prayer, feedback, and fraternity (PPF6, 139–141).
Cultivating a Shepherd’s Heart
A pastor-formation initiative that prepares priests to accompany transitional deacons through the final and most integrative stage of priestly formation: the Vocational Synthesis Stage.
In the Vocational Synthesis Stage, responsibility shifts from seminary to parish, from faculty to pastor. Formed in His Heart equips pastors to receive a transitional deacon not merely as a helper, but as a son and a brother in Christ.
The pastor becomes the deacon’s lead mentor and daily guide, modeling priestly life through presence, prayer, feedback, and fraternity (PPF6, 139–141).
This is not a “pastoral year.” The deacon enters full-time ministry not to be tested, but to become—integrating his human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation.
Structured sessions covering theology, emotional intelligence, leadership, pastoral planning, and mentorship tools such as OARS, DiSC, and EQ-i 2.0.
“At the heart of Formed in His Heart is not a curriculum or checklist but a Person—the Sacred Heart of Jesus.”From the Participant’s Guide
